System Memory: RNA, RNB and RNC

The PAT48AN countains four 30-pin SIMM sockets for 9-bit modules (256Kx9, 1Mx9, 16Mxp SIMMs) and two 72-pin SIMM sockets 36-bit modules (1Mx36, 2Mx36, 4Mx36, 8Mx36, 16Mx36 and 32Mx36).

Note : 1M x 36 SIMM = 4 of 1M x 9 SIMM
2M x 36 SIMM = 8 of 1M x 9 SIMM
4M x 36 SIMM = 4 of 4M x 9 SIMM
8M x 36 SIMM = 8 of 4M x 9 SIMM
16M x 36 SIMM = 4 of 16M x 9 SIMM
32M x 36 SIMM = 8 of 16M x 9 SIMM

The memory banks of the PAT48AN, depending on the users requirements, can be ASSIGNED and/or REASSIGNED by installing RNs (Resistor Networks) into 10-pin RN sockets, RNA, RNB and RNC.

Note : If changing the number of memory banks JP10 and JP11 may have to be changed.

Using "36-bit" SIMM sockets as Bank 0 & 1 and "9-bit" SIMM sockets as bank 2.

Using "36-bit" SIMM

The "36-bit" SIMM sockets, M1 and M2, can also accept DUAL Density SIMMs. A dual density SIMM is equivalent to eight pices of "9-bit" SIMMs (also equivalent to 2 memory banks).
Eg. 2M x 36 SIMM == 8 * (1M x 9) SIMMs

Contrary to what the manual states, Holger Reif has succeded in using FP SIMMs (16M, 70 ns, w/o parity).
